7th ANNUAL UNIVERSITY OF NEW BRUNSWICK / UNIVERSITY OF MAINE INTERNATIONAL GRADUATE CONFERENCE - October 21 to 23, 2005

The history graduate students of the University of Maine and University of New Brunswick wish to announce the 7th Annual International Graduate Student Conference, set for October 21-23, 2005. In past years, the conference has attracted participants from a number of universities throughout the United States and Canada. This year's event will be held on the University of New Brunswick campus in Fredericton, N.B, Canada. We invite all interested graduate students, from any university or college, to submit paper proposals related to any topic of historical investigation. This conference is designed to offer graduate students the opportunity to present their work before a friendly audience of peers, and an opportunity to meet other graduate students who have similar experiences and interests in an expanding discipline.

Dr. Richard Judd (University of Maine) will deliver the keynote address "North American Environmental History: A Comparative Analysis of Canada and the United States," on 21 October 2005. Dr. Judd is a specialist in U.S. environmental history, especially that of New England, and his most recent publication, Natural States: The Environmental Imagination in Maine, Oregon, and the Nation (with Christopher S. Beach), was published in 2003.

Both individual and panel proposals are welcome. Please submit your proposal of 500 words or less electronically by June 30, 2005 to: Kirk Niergarth
