BIKE PATROL

UNB Bike Patrol was initiated in the Fall of 2001 on a trial basis. After receiving favorable response from the University community a funding drive was launched and several University department and affiliates sponsored the costs of purchasing two new KHS mountain bikes.

On July 3rd, 2002 the Fredericton City Police invited two of our members, Ptl. Tim O'Kane and Ptl. Desmond Dupuis, to participate in the Police Tactical Mountain Bike Course which was being taught by members of the Halifax Regional Police.

As of 2004 the Bike Patrol operates from early Spring to late Fall and is augmented by student campus police members who also will be patrolling on a regular basis starting in the Fall 2004 semester.

The department would like to thank the following sponsors without whose support, the bike patrol program would not be possible.
