Writing Lab
The aim of the writing lab is to help students improve their own
writing abilities through individual tutoring sessions that focus
on academic assignments. Students can get help to understand
the particular demands of formal, academic writing in English,
including such topics as clarifying ideas, making an outline,
developing a thesis statement, thinking critically, structuring
an argument, proofreading, editing, and revising. The goal is
to help students improve the clarity of their own thought and
expression while correctly citing to minimize possiblity of plagiarism.
- Writing assistance is available by appointment or dropping off material for editing.
- There is usually a two business day turn-around for dropped of material.
- Quick APA answers are provided on a first come first serve basis during office hours.
Instructional sessions on writing, word processing, research skills, or Refworks can be scheduled when a need is identified to the Writing Lab instructor.
