The Law Library went through some renovations this past summer in preparation for a larger renovation in the summer of 2011. This summer we discarded most of our American law reports in print; the American reporters we did keep have been moved to Superseded Reference on the third floor. We also moved all the A-R bound periodicals to the third floor to the right of the stairs (bound periodicals from S-Z remain on the second floor). In addition, we have cut down the shelving in the reference area and adjusted the material located in reference.
You will notice that there are many empty shelves on the first floor behind the reference area; these shelves will remain empty until next summer, when we anticipate that a climate-controlled rare books and special collections room will be built in that area.
Finally, the carpet on the main stairwell in the library will be removed and replaced in the first few weeks of September. Although we anticipate that this project will only take a few days, it will mean that the main stairwell will not be accessible for a short period of time. To get to the second and third floor while the carpeting is being replaced, you can use the stairs in the McKay Reading Room (they are located at the back of the room - see the floor plans for details).
If you have any questions about the changes that have taken place, do not hesitate to contact the Head Law Librarian, Janet Moss.
