Information for:

Using Your Laptop on Campus

There are different ways to use your laptop on campus. Regardless of which way you connect, you must first register your laptop on the campus network:

  • If you live in residence, follow the instructions for Resent connections. For set-up or on-going assistance, please contact your Residential Network Consultant (RNC).

  • If you live outside of residence you may register for Ethernet connections. Follow the instructions for your operating system below. (Note: these are PDF files and require the Adobe Acrobat Reader.)

Once your laptop is registered, you may use:

  • the carrels (a desk with a network conection and a power plug-in),
  • the drops along the outer wall of the Atrium in the Student Union Building (SUB),
  • other drops on campus (e.g. if you have to give a presentation in class -- plug in to a drop in the classroom, if available, or plug in to a drop in your dorm room, if you are registered for ResNet),
  • or try out the wireless access on campus (you'll need your own wireless card), or sign out one of the laptops available for use in the library.

Need help? Contact our Laptop Support Team for set-up help (network and printing) and anti-virus/anti-spyware support.

We recommend that you perform regular maintenance on your laptop.
