IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

  • Mid-December to mid-January is an extremely busy time for airlines in Canada.  You must BOOK FLIGHTS early to get a seat and an affordable rate.

  • Many university employees will be on holiday from mid-December to early January and offices may be closed.  Be sure to confirm all of your arrangements before December 20th.

  • December 25th, 26th and January 1st are important holidays in Canada.  If you arrive on one of these days you will find that most shops, restaurants, and other services are closed.

  • Dress Warmly. The average January temperature is –4c but it can get colder (-25c) and it is not unusual to have winter storms at this time.

  • Expect Delays.  Travelling in the winter can be difficult.  Make sure you have enough money to cover expenses in case you miss your flight connections.

  • If you arrive in January it is important to be prepared.  January is the most difficult term to start your studies because the cultural adjustment to the Canadian winter can be extremely severe.  In addition, most students begin their studies in September so you will find orientation programs and course selection are limited in January.
