TEMPORARY ACCOMMODATION

 

Before you move into a UNB Residence, or while you look for an apartment, you will need a place to stay!

Please note:  If you have decided to live in a UNB Residence, the first day for new students to move into residence is:

• September 2 (2009 Fall Term)
• January 3 (2010 Winter Term)
• May 1st (2010 Spring Term)

If you arrive before these times you will need to make arrangements for temporary accommodation.

 

UNIVERSITY RESIDENCE (Temporary)

Booking temporary accommodation at UNB is a convenient and economical option. 

Summer Student Room Rates

Single Room:  $25 + tax/night (one single bed)

                   $155 + tax/week (one single bed)

                   $495/month (no tax)

* Temporary Accommodation in residence is available only BETWEEN MAY 1st and MID-AUGUST.

* All rooms share a washroom/showers on the same floor.

* There are no kitchen facilities, and the university meal halls are closed during the Christmas break (December 20-January 4.) Restaurants and shops are within a 15 minute walk.

Check-In Procedure

Take a taxi from the airport to the "UNB Residential Life Office" (20 Bailey Drive)

A UNB Employee will take your payment and give you keys to your room - open daily from 8am until 11pm.

 

If you arrive after business hours, you will have to stay in a hotel for the first night and sign into Residence the next morning.

 

HOTEL

Staying in a hotel is a convenient option after a long flight.  There are several hotels in Fredericton.  If you are arriving at the end of August, you should book a room before you arrive since Fredericton is a small city and all UNB students and their families will be coming into the city at the same time.  Hotels are usually $100+/night.

FREDERICTON INTERNATIONAL HOSTEL AND OFF CAMPUS STUDENT RESIDENCE (aka ROSARY HALL)

Fredericton International Hostel is privately owned and operated, and is centrally located in downtown Fredericton, within a ten minute walk to the university.

Rooms are very basic with shared bathroom, kitchen, lounge and laundry facilities (residence-style accommodation). Reservations can be made for either temporary or long-term stays. Tenants are not necessarily university students. Check here for pictures of Fredericton International Hostel

It is a good idea to make a reservation since rooms book up before the start of each term. If you are arriving after hours, you are encouraged to book a room at a hotel for the first night (open 24 hours) and transfer to the Fredericton International Hostel the next day if you wish to have a cheaper rate.
