GET INVOLVED!
Whether it is going abroad or getting involved locally, UNB provides students with an
international study experience because it recognizes the importance of such an
experience. UNB has developed many internationally focused programs such as the Student
Abroad Program, UNB's Travel Study Program and other Faculty-specific opportunities.
Ways to get Involved Internationally
- Exchanges: Students can study at an approved program where credits are transferred to their UNBF degree. Students may stay for one or two semesters at the overseas institution. While there, students can indulge in the culture, learn a new language and explore the region. Long-lasting friendships will be forged during their experience abroad.
- Internships: The Student Abroad office directly organizes internships, or they can help you find the right internship for you organized by another organization. Internships allow students to learn leadership skills, citizenship responsibilities and business practises that are often different from those in Canadian society. Students work in businesses, schools and agencies, and with projects establishing community programs.
- Field courses: From digging archaeological antiquities, to studying fish and coral reef in its natural habitat, visiting museums, and developing your second language skills, the Student Abroad Program offers the chance to participate in a field course. That means that you, your UNB professor and your classmates can participate in a course, often organized by the research interest of the professor.
- Mobility Projects: UNBF also facilitates European Union and North America Free Trade Agreement Mobility Projects. These project-based programs are meant for students to apply their academic skills directly in an international setting.

Exchange Partners- Back to Top
There are a number of avenues that a UNB Fredericton student may take to spend a term in a country outside of Canada.
The choice a student has between countries and institutions and between internships and study opportunities depends on the faculty with which they are studying and possibly prior language competencies.
