The Maliseet-Passamaquoddy Dictionary project has compiled a
collection of more than 20,000 words. The editors are currently
completing the entries and the other sections of the dictionary,
which include a grammatical sketch, noun and verb paradigms,
an index of noun and verb roots, sound-files, and texts.
The co-Principal Investigators, David A Francis and Robert M
Leavitt, along with participating linguists and community research
assistants, are working closely with speakers in the communities
where Maliseet-Passamaquoddy is spoken today. The goal is a dictionary
useful to the work of teachers and students, writers and researchers
in Maliseet and Passamaquoddy communities and beyond.
