Dr. Elizabeth Sloat is an Associate Professor with UNB's Faculty of Education, a Research Associate with the Canadian Research Institute for Social Policy, and the Institute's Associate Director. She received her PhD in Curriculum and Instruction from McGill University in the area of language development with a particular emphasis on reading and writing acquisition. Elizabeth's research focuses primarily on the development of applied large-scale, outcomes-based evaluation models aimed at assessing program effects longitudinally. Her current work encompasses the development of a monitoring and assessment system operating in schools across New Brunswick aimed at tracking literacy growth trajectories from kindergarten to grade two. Elizabeth lectures on literacy and research methods, and has taught extensively in the areas of literacy development, teaching methods, written communication, and curriculum theory at both McGill and the University of New Brunswick.
