Flight

This program explored the concept of flight, from aerodynamics and ornothology to flights of fancy. Please CLICK on each of the following areas of exploration for visual images of the experience.

We read accounts of famous flights from Lindberg to Peter Pan

We constructed kites, paper airplanes and hot air balloons

We observed birds and learned how they fly

We remade, through drawing and painting, familiar scenes from a "bird's eye view"

We read about Mythical beasts that could fly and we created some of our own

We saw how flight is interpreted in music and dance

We followed the threads that connect "dreamers" like DaVinci with "doers" like the Wright Brothers

We painted a large mural showing both real and imaginary flights
