The Peanut Butter Bear Series

Katelyn has written a series of books about her favourite teddy bear named Peanut Butter.  She gives appropriate, meaningful titles to her books and dedicates them to special people in her life.   This demonstrates her familiarity with other texts that model book construction.   Titles in her series include, Peanut Butter Goes to the Circus, The Peanut Butter Book Boo, Peanut Butter and Snowflake Book Boo.  When Katelyn composes, she uses a combination of illustrations and words effectively to convey meaning to her audience.   Katelyn has a clear understanding of sentence structure, punctuation, and capitalization and uses all of these to help construct her story.  The Peanut Butter series exemplifies Katelyn's ability to take personal experiences and compose them into fictional text and drawings. The themes in the books included in The Peanut Butter series often reflect events that are occuring in Katelyn's life.  In this illustraiton, Peanut Butter is going to the hospital to get a needle.  Like most children, Katelyn's creations are used to represent and express ideas, and to communicate personal feelings about her world and experiences.Take a look at the next illustration as well.
