You've Tried the Rest, Now Try the Best : UNB CSCE

Welcome to the Canadian Society for Civil Engineers UNB Student Chapter (or Civil Society for short)! We encourage you all to get involved with this great society, in any way you can. We plan on having a bunch of great events this coming year and hope you can all come. Should you have any ideas, comments or concerns, please feel free to contact any of the executive, or email csce@unb.ca. Getting involved is a great way to meet new people and have a great time. We plan on keeping you updated through this site and through email and bulletin boards. We also encourage you to come up to the civil room, yes, we know it is a long way up to there, but we promise to make it worth it. The civil room is a great place to study, do homework, or just to hang out. This coming year, we plan on getting some new equipment in there and trying to make the room more pleasing to the eye. Come and check it out, and/or help out.

The CSCE is a learned society intended to develop and maintain high standards of civil engineering practice in Canada and to enhance the public image of the civil engineering profession.

Civil Engineering is the oldest branch of engineering after military engineering. The profession is people-oriented; communication and community involvement are integral parts of the everyday experience of the civil engineer.

Civil engineers work to satisfy societal needs for shelter, transportation, and industry. They are involved in planning, design, construction, operation and maintenance of public works and industrial projects. Examples of civil engineering works are bridges, highways, airports, landfill sites, hydro-electric dams, water and sewage facilities, port facilities and buildings. Environmental protection and urban planning are also important responsibilities for many civil engineers.
