Welcome to the University of New Brunswick's SAE Baja Team

Mechanical Engineering students have been tasked by the UNB Department of Mechanical Engineering to independently design and manufacture a prototype of a rugged, single seat, off-road recreational vehicle for the non-professional weekend off-road enthusiast!

The UNB Baja team is located in HB-114 in Head Hall.  Stop by!

 

News

- The UNB Baja SAE Team would like to thank Dr. Gordon Holloway, who has agreed to be the team's faculty advisor for the 2009/2010 competition year.

- A new year has begun and the team is looking for fresh members who are ready and able to take on the challenge for the April 2010 SAE Baja competition in South Carolina!  If interested please e-mail us at Baja@unb.ca. The team is also looking for new sponsors, so please visit the "Sponsorship" tab if interested!

- Congratulations to the 2008 UNB Baja team on a very successful year! On May 1st the Baja team drove down to Tennessee to compete in UNB's very first SAE collegiate competition of any kind. And after 3 days of working on the car to get it in racing order, the team was able to successfully complete every competition over the weekend (which is almost unheard of for a rookie team). Not only that, but the team was able to come in 50th spot out of 93 universities all across North America and the world.   - Overall = 50th

  - 4 Hour Endurance Race = 32nd

  - Water Manoeuvrability = 53rd

  - Suspension and Traction = 44th

  - Sled Pull = 51st

  - Land Manoeuvrability = 44th

  - Acceleration = 54th

  - Design = 59th

  - Cost Analysis = 19th! (top 10 pre-audit)

- The UNB  Baja vehicle has successfully been completed and tested! (April 23rd, see Media tab for new pictures and video clips)

- New frame construction complete (Mar. 28/08)

- Construction of the new frame has begun (Jan. 30/08)

- First Prototype has been completed and tested!
- Baja SAE competition is to be held in Cookeville, TN, on May 1-3, 2008! Team UNB will be there!
- The Department has donated space in HB-114 for vehicle assembly.
