Fredericton hosts 11th International Workshop on Telework
This August over 48 registrants from five continents descended upon Fredericton to attend the 11th annual International Workshop on Telework, with the theme of this year’s conference being “E-Networks in an Increasingly Volatile World.”
Over 70 people were involved with the conference both presenting or reviewing papers, and many Faculty of Business Administration members were involved. The conference’s General Chair, Proceedings Editor were members of the faculty with the local organizing committee being composed almost entirely of faculty, staff, and graduate students.
In addition to the high level of attendance, the conference website has received about 100,000 hits and is fifth out of 88,200 sites on Google’s search engine.
The conference brought together people from all disciplines as people from business, education, engineering, computer science, and medicine gathered to discuss the societal and technological implications of people gathering electronically in order to carry out everything from customer service to diagnosis of patients.
The event was considered a successful one as researchers promised future collaboration with one another and Fredericton was highlighted as a place for both innovation and entrepreneurship.
