Finding a Balance between Business and Hockey

Over the years, being a university student hasn’t become any easier. With the time commitment required for every course, it is hard to find much time for anything else. But students in the faculty of business administration have done just that.

Business students playing on UNB’s Varsity Reds have found a way to balance their school work and intense hockey schedule. As forward Kyle Bailey put it, “Hockey is a large commitment but our team is lucky to have a good network of teammates to support each other, and the professors at UNB are very cooperative and helpful with our academics”.

Another business student on the hockey team, MBA defensemen David Bowman says, “The key to balancing school and hockey is routine. I spend more then six hours a day at both”.

This is the third year in a row that UNB has made it to the championship finals, and the second time they have won.

Daniel Coleman, dean of the faculty of business administration said, “The entire university is very proud of the achievements of the Varsity Reds Men's Hockey team. I, along with everyone in the faculty of business administration am especially delighted, because there were 12 BBA and two MBA students on the championship team. That's more than half the players. It is also noteworthy that most of the guys are very good students. They truly demonstrate athletic and academic excellence”.
