Master of Arts in Anthropology

Admission  Requirements

The normal admission requirement is a Bachelor of Arts degree in anthropology with at least a 3.0 (B) average. A candidate may be required to take a qualifying year when it is felt that he/she lacks sufficient background in anthropology. Students with a standing less than 3.7 will be unlikely to get funding and thus may not be admitted.

Scholarships and Awards

For the 2006-2007 academic year, a normal MA-level teaching assistantship is valued at $12.000 over 12 months. Outstanding students, such as those who hold a first class honours degree, are eligible to receive a top up merit award (Board of Governor Merit Award, or the Magee-Third Century Postgraduate Merit Award ) valued at $2,500.00 over 12 months.

Fees

Fees are $1,774 x 3 terms = $5,322 per year in 2006-2007 for Canadian students.  Non-Canadian students pay $1,774 x 3 terms = $5,322 per year plus a differential fee of $1,296.00, health insurance of $549.00 and a Graduate Student Association fee of $30.50 per term.
