The Department of Classics & Ancient History offers Honours and Major programmes in Classics and in Classical Studies.
For advice concerning these programmes, please see the Undergraduate Adviser: Prof. John W. Geyssen, 209 Carleton Hall, (506)453-4763
| Classics --- emphasizes the study of Classical antiquity based on the reading of Greek and Latin authors in the original languages, and is designed for students who wish to go on to graduate study in Classics (ancient history, literature, philosophy, art, etc.). For this reason, students interested in this option are encouraged to begin the study of classical languages as early in their programmes as possible. | Classical Studies --- offers students the option of studying the ancient civilizations of Greece and Rome with only minimal or no language study, and is designed for students who wish to study antiquity either as a secondary interest (e.g. with History or English) or as preparation for entrance into professional studies (e.g. architecture, education, journalism, law, library science, museology, theology). | ||
