Certificate in Teaching French as a Second Language (CTFSL)

This certificate is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to become effective teachers of French as a Second Language (FSL). The CTFSL requires successful completion of:

1. Three required courses according to program: Secondary (ED 3562, ED 4567 and either ED 4075 or ED 4561), Elementary (ED 4568, ED 4569 and either ED 4075 or ED 4561)

2. An extended internship in an FSL context (minimum 50%)

3. A Certificate of Oral Proficiency based on the New Brunswick Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) with a minimum of Advanced Plus for French immersion, and Advanced for all other FSL teaching contexts including Intensive French.

Eligibility: In order to enrol in the CTFSL, candidates must be currently enrolled in the BEd program. Candidates must also complete a certificate application form and provide proof of oral proficiency level (OPI certificate).
