Prior to her retirement in 2007, Sally Rehorick had been with L2RIC since 1987 when it opened as the French Second Language Teacher Education Centre. She has contributed broadly to the field of second language education at the provincial, national, and international levels, having served as director of major program and policy development projects for the provincial and federal governments. During her career, she has also taught at Harvard University, the University of Alberta, the University of Victoria, and Miyazaki International College in Japan. As Co-editor of the Canadian Modern Language Review, she published 25 volumes over six years. Her participation in a research project at the European Centre for Modern Languages concerning the implementation of the European Language Portfolio resulted in a focus within Canada to implement national standards for language proficiency. A recipient of the University of Alberta’s Alumni Award of Excellence and the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal, Sally was also recognized for her contributions to the field by the Canadian Association of Second Language Teachers, which awarded her the prestigious Robert Roy Award.

Avant sa retraite en 2007, Sally Rehorick travaillait à l’IRL2C depuis 1987, soit depuis sa création sous le nom de Centre de didactique des langues secondes. Elle a contribué à l’enseignement des langues secondes tant sur les plans provincial et national qu’international à titre de directrice d’un vaste programme et de projets d’élaboration de politiques pour les gouvernements fédéral et provinciaux. Elle a également enseigné aux universités Harvard, de l’Alberta et de Victoria ainsi qu’au Miyazaki International College du Japon. À titre de codirectrice de la rédaction de la Revue canadienne des langues vivantes, elle a publié 25 volumes en six ans. Sa participation à un projet de recherche au Centre européen pour les langues vivantes portant sur la mise en place d’un Portfolio européen des langues a poussé le milieu à établir des normes nationales pour les connaissances linguistiques. Lauréate de l’Alumni Award of Excellence, décerné par l’Université de l’Alberta, et de la Médaille du jubilé de la Reine, Sally a aussi été reconnue pour ses contributions au domaine par l’entremise de l’Association canadienne des professeurs de langues secondes. Cet organisme lui a d’ailleurs remis le prestigieux prix Robert Roy.
